Well, I'm home and using my own computer that lets me do what I want and does not log me off just as I getting to the correct location.
So I will update you all on the week in review.
Sit back get a cup or coffee or you favorite beverage of choice.
Flight to Venice was uneventful other then a very full flight. I had more room on the 50 min flight from france to Italy then I did for the 8.0 hours from ohare to France.
Any way got to Italy and was met by a cab driver who took me the the Crown Plaza Hotel that was actually just out side of Venice about a 30 min train ride.
Once all the group of 10 arrived and were settled in there rooms 8 of us went to dinner to a local pizza restaurant. The hotel shuttle ook us and it was wonderful. Had a brick oven pizza that i shared with lorraine. Everyone one else had a varity of pasta and pizza to some sort of pork thing that Ray had.
Went to bed and got up on Saturaday and took the train ride to Venice. After about a hour of tring to decide what we wanted to do with the luggage I found a Place that we could leave our bags and they would take them to the ship for 5 euro per bag. No one had to thing twice about it so we all left our bags and took a water taxi to San Marco Square. What a beautiful place and very crowded. Carole, Ray and Lorraine and I kept together and the rest went a different way because they had been to San Marco Square the day before.
So we did some picture taking, so Gellato eating and people watching and Lorraine got her refrig
ator magnate. After a couple of hours we took the water taxi to the cruise ship and boarded.
Very easy no luggage but we were all praying that we would have our luggage on the ship. Went directly to get some food since we were all starving. It was buffet style so you could eat what ever and as much as you like. No diet pepsi. Just Coke products so I drink alot of water and iced tea.
Went to the room and something that I knew already was that it was small. But twin beds and a bathroom with a shower and what else do you need.
Our luggage had not yet arrived so we went to tour the boat and take pictures and had the life jacket muster and all of that stuff. There was a lady in front of me that lived in Myrtle Beach.
The rest of the day was sent waiting for our luggage, eating, drinking and finding our way around the ship.
Day 2 on the ship was a cruise day. No port. had breakfast and just waked around the deck a couple of times and took a bunch of pictures. Headed to the lounge with Judy and Joe and we did the team trivia and WON!!! we got 13 out of 15 correct. Mostley because of Joe but I added a couple of my own answers. Won a sea pass holder that goes around your neck.
By the way all luggage was received but carole was still missing a little red bag that had all her makeup and curling iron and cell phone and some jewerly in it. So she had to fill out a report and talk to the purser. I will not hold you in suPpense about whether carole every got her red bag or not. She was told on Thursday that it had been found still on Venice that it never made it on to the ship. We were all very thankfull.
There is nothing worse than seeing your boss without her makeup and hair curled.
Any way it was a good cruising day the boat was more rocky then i would have liked acouple of times i lost my balance but thankfully never fell. This was Judy's first cruise and she was not at all happy. It did get better after a couple of days but it was kinda of annonying.
Monday we went to our first port and that was Piraeus, Greece (athens) Lorraine and I and Mary Ann and Dick went to the Parthenon the larges building in the Acropolis. It was beautiful.
I was quite the walk up probably steps made of rock and marble anmarbe really was worth the walk up but kinda scarry. Once on the top we could see forever. It was just spectacular. Lorraine and I were ready to take the climb down and it started to rain. So just imagein Me, Lorraine a cane and two bottles of water and an umbrella going down slick marble steps. I'm glad no one was filming us. It was one step at a time but we made it. I guess now would be the time to tell you that lorraine is having knee surgery in Nov.
I'm going to break for a couple of minutes so get a fresh cup of coffee or your favorite beverage while i change the laundry.
